This collective codex from the state library of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation is a unique document from the time of Charles I (Charlamagne). Written by various students of the Hofschule, it gives a glimpse into the development of the school by showing the kind of writings the arduous students used from their lectures of various read texts and how these eventually influenced the attainment of their own style of writing.

How strong the interest of Charles I in education was, is apparent in the poem of Fiducia, who admits, because of his mistakes to have received a reprimand from the Kaiser himself. The wealth of grammatical reading texts found in this codex shows the diligent, but moreover the unequaled aspiration, pursuit, ambition in the early Carolingian times.
